Asparagus spears are such a versatile vegetable - yet cooking them on the smoker really gives it the best flavor. Simple ingredients and hands-off cooking on the smoker makes this one of my favorite side dishes.
Wash then Trim the ends of the asparagus (where the purple usually is).
Make a tray with edges for holding the asparagus spears.
Drizzle the oil over the asparagus spears and add the chopped garlic. Mix together with your hands to make sure the asparagus spears are all evenly coated.
Sprinkle the salt and pepper then add to the smoker preheated to 250°F. Cook for 50 minutes, tossing half way through the cooking time.
Remove and serve with lemon wedges - for the individual to add lemon juice to their own serving.
