Cajun Fish Fry

Deliciously crispy outside and soft and tender inside this Cajun fish fry is the best fried fish you'll ever make. A fish fry is something of an art and Cajuns sure know how to cook.

Ingredients

  • ½ Gallon Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups Cornmeal
  • 2 Tablespoons Onion Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
  • 3 Tablespoons Cajun Seasoning
  • ½ Cups Yellow Mustard
  • 2 Pounds White Fish Fillets like bass

Instructions

  • Heat oil to 350°F.
    ½ Gallon Vegetable Oil
  • Mix all ingredients in a large resealable bag.
    2 Cups All Purpose Flour, 2 Cups Cornmeal, 2 Tablespoons Onion Powder, 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder, 3 Tablespoons Cajun Seasoning
  • Add mustard to another resealable bag.
    ½ Cups Yellow Mustard
  • Drop your fish into the mustard mixture and allow to sit for about 15 minutes.
    2 Pounds White Fish Fillets
  • When you're ready to fry, (the temperature of the oil should be 350°F) take some of the fish out of the mustard and drop into the fish fry mixture, to coat completely.
  • Drop into the hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes. Remove and allow to drain on some paper towels.
    ½ Gallon Vegetable Oil
  • Rrepeat with the remaining fish.

Notes

The longer the fish can sit in the mustard, the better. Allow to sit up to an hour at room temperature.
