What makes this so yummy

  • An easy snack that everyone loves.
  • Two ingredients that make the perfect finger food.
  • Cooking in the air fryer brings this party food to a whole new level.
  • An easy recipe you can fix in a matter of minutes.
  • They make the perfect appetizer.

Groceries you'll need: Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make pigs in blankets in the air fryer.
  • Lit'l Smokies (cocktail sausages)
  • Refrigerated Crescent Roll Dough

See recipe card at the bottom of this post for quantities.

Recipe walkthrough: Instructions

  • Step 1: Heat up your air fryer.
  • Step 2: Unroll the crescent roll dough. Cut into strips about ½" wide x 3" long (ish) using a pizza cutter.
  • Step 3: Wrap that strip of dough around a cocktail sausage and place seam down in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Step 4: Repeat until you have enough to where you don't over crowd the basket.
  • Step 5: Cook for about 3 minutes and then flip them and cook another 3-4 minutes.
  • Step 6: Remove and cook another batch.

Hint: There are so many different flavors when it comes to cocktail sausages. You could really go to town with the variety here.

Recipe variations and substitute ideas

  • Hot Dogs - instead of cocktail sausages. They'll just be longer.
  • BBQ Sauce - try brushing the inside of the pastry/dough lightly with BBQ sauce.
  • Sesame Seeds - Sprinkle finished 'pigs' with sesame seeds.
  • Crispy Bacon - Instead of the pastry you can wrap with bacon instead. (that's a British Pig in Blanket).

This is an air fryer recipe, so you'll need an air fryer. I have my favorite one listed below in the recipe card (it's an affiliate link).

If you don't have one, next best thing would be a convected oven.

How to store leftovers

Once the pigs in blankets have cooled completely they should be stored in an airtight container lined with paper towel, in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Mel's kitchen notes

I recommend serving these air fryer pigs in blankets with your favorite dipping sauces. Or a variety of dips.
