These Halloween chocolate covered strawberries are super easy to make and are the best gift or treat for a Halloween party. Deliciously sweet strawberries dipped in a candy coating, it doesn't get much easier.
There are a few other characters that could be made easily like these ones were, e.g. dracula, spiders or you could even just dip them in the colored candy then sprinkle with Halloween colored sprinkles.

- Colored Candy wafers or Chocolate (with food color)
- Candy Eyes
- Vegetable Shortening
- Food grade marker or gel icing
- Sprinkles (optional)

- Step 1: Wash and dry the strawberries with paper towels.
- Step 2: Add the white candy wafers to a microwave-safe bowl with a teaspoon of vegetable shortening and microwave on 50% for 30-second increments. Stirring between each.
- Step 3: Once the candy wafers (or chocolate) has melted to the right consistency dip some of the strawberries up to the green then place on a tray lined with wax paper (or a piece of parchment paper) to dry.
- Step 4: Using a spoon drizzle the remaining white to create lines (like a mummy) and add two candy eyes to each while there is still some wet.
- Step 5: To another cup add some orange wafers and melt in the same way as in step 2.
- Step 6: Dip more strawberries into the orange melted wafers and line up on the prepared baking sheet to dry.
- Step 7: Repeat with the green candy wafers.
- Step 8: Once dried decorate the orange strawberries like jack-o-lanterns using the food grade marker or gel icing.
- Step 9: Decorate the green-colored strawberries like Frankenstein.
Hint: If you find the candy wafers are not melting to the consistency you are looking for add some more shortening.
🔄 Substitutions and Variations
- Dark Chocolate - instead of the candy colors then sprinkle with Halloween Sprinkles.
- Milk Chocolate - Same as above.
- Coconut Oil - instead of vegetable shortening - although it's not as effective.
- Fresh Berries - you could use any fresh berries for this recipe, the green tops are so cute though.

- 2lb Fresh Strawberries
- 7oz White Candy Melting Wafers
- 4oz Green Candy Melting Wafers
- 4oz Orange Candy Melting Wafers
- 28 Candy Eyeballs
- Black food grade marker
- 3 Teaspoons Vegetable Shortening
- Wash and dry the strawberries.
- Add the white candy melts to a cup and microwave at 50% power in 30 second intervals, stirring in between.
- Add 1 teaspoon of shortening and keep stirring until you get a good dippable consistency.
- Dip some of the strawberries into the white melted candy then set on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
- Continue until you have about 12 strawberries done. Drizzle the remaining white melted candy to make bandage lines, add 2 candy eyes to each strawberry.
- Rrepeat the candy melting procedure for the orange candy then dip about 12 strawberries, laying out on the wax paper.
- Repeat again for the green candy melts.
- Using your black food grade marker (or gel icing) decorate the orange strawberries like jack-o-lanterns and the green strawberries as Frankensteins.
- Once finished store in the refrigerator.
Add more shortening if you need to thin the melted candy more. Add a teaspoon at a time and stir well.
